1. DIET! I’ve noticed a huge change in my hair ever since I started eating a plant-based, vegan diet. Why? Because whole foods are FULL of vitamins. Feeding my body with an abundant amount of vitamins has had an incredible impact on my hair. Here are some of the vitamins and foods that I include in my daily diet.
Vitamin C- This one is crucial for hair and scalp health. Vitamin C helps to build the collagen in our hair. You also need Vitamin C to absorb Iron. Iron is found in our hemoglobin, and hemoglobin carry/circulate the oxygen in our bodies, and to our scalp. When we have oxygen circulated to our scalps that’s when hair starts to grow! Vitamin C + Iron = Oxygen = Hair Growth.
Foods high in Vitamin C- Berries, Citrus Fruits, Bell Peppers, Dark Leafy Greens, Broccoli, Papaya and more.
Foods high in Iron- Chia Seeds (200xs more iron than spinach) Nuts, Seeds, Dark Leafy Greens, Legumes, Oats, Quinoa, Brown Rice and more.
2. COCONUT OIL- This stuff is GOLD Coconut oil is rich in vitamin E, K, Iron and Lauric Acid. All which are necessary for long, healthy hair. I rub coconut oil in my hair and on scalp and leave it overnight. I do this weekly and its amazing.
Vitamin E- When you rub it on your scalp it increases blood circulation and it boosts the oxygen supply to the scalp. Similar to the Vitamin C and Iron.
LAURIC ACID- It’s a fatty acid found in coconut oil. It gradually strengthens hair and it stops hair breakage caused to hair thinning. Coconut oil is just AMAZING.
3. LIFESTYLE- Keep stress low, high cortisol levels are due to stress and will make your hair fall out! I need a daily dose of endorphins to stay happy, that’s why I work out almost every day. It keeps me happy. I also love to listen to motivational, inspiring, uplifting books, videos, music and podcasts. Lastly the BIGGEST de-stressor for me, besides Mary Jay is MEDITATION. Meditation has changed my life and I urge everyone to try it! I like it so much that I would skip Glute day to go meditate in a heartbeat! Yup it’s that good.
4. Random Things I do- I brush my hair BEFORE I shower, brushing wet hair is not good. I get my hair trimmed maybe ONCE per year and I have virgin hair. (I’ve never dyed it) My shampoo and conditioner are organic, chemical free and aren’t tested on animals. #vegan.
AND that’s basically it. It’s pretty simple. I eat an abundant amount of fruits and veggies, I LOVE coconut oil, and I try to keep only good vibes in my life. When you take care of your body and mind, it’ll take care of you! And give you long hair.
